Consciousness

How does Fiorella Myklebust Agency incorporate consciousness and sustainability in its operations?

We have carefully selected well-known professional and conscientious designers of Peruvian brands, that produce entirely in Peru. All products are crafted at their origin by local artisan’s expertise. Our co-operation is based a great deal on demand, communication and mutual trust.
Importantly, our common interest of doing business is based on the 10 principles of UN Global Compact. These principles deal with social responsibilities such as health and safety, fair salary, anti-corruption, freedom of association, environmental responsibility and the abolition of child labour.

We want to contribute on the road to a greener future and believe that one of the most important things we must work on is to reduce consumption. To cope with this, we depend on products with a long service life.

  • Producing small quantities to prevent overproduction
  • Preorders to secure our sources
  • Cutting leads to sell directly to customers at honest prices
  • Committing to the ideals of responsible fashion and transparency.
  • Transparent about our supply chain

Sustainability is about living in a way that allows us to get what we need, without destroying for future generations to have their needs met. Three areas must be taken care of for something to be sustainable: environment, economy and social conditions.

The term sustainable development was first used in the report Our Common Future in 1987. The report defines sustainable development as a «development that meets the needs of today without destroying for future generations to have their needs met». We have only one globe and limited resources. Together we have a responsibility to take care of it, both for those who live today and for those who come after us.
The word sustainability is used in more and more contexts. There is no universal definition of the term, but it is common that it deals with three dimensions: environmental and social conditions as well as finances must be taken care of for something to be sustainable.

Sustainable development consists of three dimensions: economy, environment and social conditions. (Illustration from the UN Association).
Environmental issues include biological diversity, water consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, use of land, pesticides, fertilizers and emissions of environmentally harmful substances. Social issues are about fair distribution of goods, education, health services, clean energy, equality, peace, cooperation, and about eradicating poverty and hunger. The economic dimension involves economic growth, innovation and infrastructure, responsible production and consumption, and reduced inequality.

 UNESCO definition of ARTISAN MADE

Artisanal products are those produced by artisans, either completely by hand, or with the help of hand tools or even mechanical means, as long as the direct manual contribution of the artisan remains the most substantial component of the finished product. These are produced without restriction in terms of quantity and using raw materials from sustainable resources. The special nature of artisanal products derives from their distinctive features, which can be utilitarian, aesthetic, artistic, creative, culturally attached, decorative, functional, traditional, religiously and socially symbolic and significant.
